A new vision
I love what I do.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to make instruments that inspire the player and help them communicate. I’ve met amazing musicians and instrument makers who have inspired me. Inspired me to keep moving forward, to keep working on what I think a guitar should be; how it should look, sound, and so on.
No khakis were worn in this photo.
While I love what I do, at times, I haven’t always feel creatively inspired. Sure, building guitars is a creative process, but once the “cement” of the design has dried, you just keep making the same thing. If you’ve watched enough of the live streams, you’ve heard me mention as much. Over the last few years, I’ve met more and more instrument makers who are pushing boundaries of how I think about the guitar, and my relationship with it. I’ll spare you the details of the individual conversations, but I’ve noticed that a lot of these inspiring moments had a common thread:
They were all acoustic guitars.
I’ve built my skill of keeping certain ideas and projects close to the vest, and I’m happy to say that now is the time to move forward and tell you that yes, I’m shifting focus to acoustic builds! By the end of this year, all new work will be in that direction. I’m excited and nervous to share my ideas and creativity under the Sullivan Instruments name. Feel free to poke around there! ! I want to thank all of you who have commissioned builds from me over the years, and I hope the guitars continue to serve you well. I hope that many of you will follow me into this new vision of inspiring guitars.
I know this may come as an unexpected turn of events, so if you find yourself wondering why the hell I’d make this kind of a change, please go look at a calendar. That said, we’re offering 15% off of custom orders for funsies. If you’re looking to grab a 622 or 622T, just use promo code ADULTCONTEMPORARY at checkout, or mention it in your custom quote request.
